Invitation from the Board of Governors of FLC

We would like to invite you to the final
presentation and gathering of the wonderful community that, for the last seventy
years has been known as Finger Lakes Conference. It is with deep sorrow and
regret that the Finger Lakes Board of Governors announces this final
presentation of the Province II Finger Lakes Conference at William Smith College
in Geneva, New York beginning on Sunday June 22 and closing on Friday, June 27,
2008.
We know that you will join us in grieving over the loss of
this outstanding opportunity for fellowship and Christian education which has
sustained many a conferee through good times and bad. Many are indebted for
learnings and friendships, of immeasurable value, that have grown and endured
through the years.
A celebration of this 70-year-old ministry is being planned.
Much thought and energy are being given to honoring its traditions while giving
attendees a reason to be hopeful. Hopeful that new ministries may emerge through
the presentations which will take place; and that we will all depart recognizing
that it is time -- to be joyous for the past, to look forward to the future, to
continue spreading the Good News of our Lord Jesus Christ, through our words and
actions in this rapidly changing world in which we live today.
We have secured the Rev. Barbara Cawthorne Crafton, a
long-time friend of this conference, as general lecturer. She will lead us
through the process of closure with the fine skills we know she possesses.
We hope that people who have attended in the past want to be
given advance notice of this news and opportunity to participate in the Finger
Lakes Conference experience one last time. Watch for the brochure which will be
released in early 2008. Please plan to come and bring your friends to what will
be a joyous celebration of the wonderful community which met once a year and
will always remain in the hearts of those who have participated.

Please note: The Rev. Diana Purcell-Chapman is preparing a Memorial Book and
would like anyone who feels they have a contribution of interest to others about
any aspect of conference life to please send her the text at
dinfre@netsync.net.
