Thanks to the hospitality of Diana and Fred Chapman and the organizational
skills of Barbara Humphrey (forgive me if I'm leaving someone out!) the First
Annual Reunion of Finger Lakes Conference, Inc. was a great success.
Sixteen of us gathered at Diana and Fred's home and "campground" -- and most of
us actually had beds to sleep in!
All of the food was purchased beforehand, from Friday supper to Sunday brunch --
including pre-dinner snacks, Eggs Benedict and a great big cake to honor wedding
anniversaries that occurred this week.
All of the chores were assigned and none were burdensome. The cost of food,
divided up, was minimal.
We played games, caught up with each other's lives, praised God, celebrated
friendships and solved some of the world's most intransigent problems.
All of you who were not able to come, and those who have gone on to glory before
us, were honored at our Sunday Eucharist, with Diana as celebrant and Barbara
with a dialogue sermon.
The rest of the time we were just silly.
We are encouraged to believe that Diana and Fred will try this again next year,
so put the weekend of the usual beginning of Conference on your 2010 calendars
now.
If we can navigate through the necessary technology pictures will follow.
